The Big 5 + Annual Wildebeest Migration
After being off-limits to tourists for two decades for big-cat research, this section of the eastern Serengeti is home to a staggering density of predators. In 2014, the region reopened meaning guests can enjoy this incredible corner of the Serengeti from the comfort of the cool and elegant re-imagined Namiri Plains.
This stylish camp has been designed to maximise views of the seasonal riverbed in front of camp. Its 11 elegant and spacious tents — each with its own veranda and private outdoor bath — provide the perfect setting from which to watch the wildlife that congregates here to drink. From July 2023, two additional retreats add an ideal option for families or groups looking for more space and exclusivity. Each retreat has two en-suite bedrooms, central lounge and deck, and come with its own team including a private chef and private safari guide and vehicle for a totally flexible safari experience.
When 'The Great Migration' moves into the area, the plains explode into action, with massive herds heading south to calve, followed by the big cats that prey on them. With your closest neighbour over an hour’s drive away, you’d be excused for feeling as though you have the eastern Serengeti all to yourself.
