Kuro Camp

Stylish, simple camp in a secluded location with access to everything, Kuro Camp is a great choice for off-the-beaten-track safaris in Tanzania

Kuro Tarangire is a small, stylishly simple camp, tucked away in a secluded corner of the park. Surrounded by some of the finest walking country in northern Tanzania, and just a short distance from Tarangire’s richest wildlife areas, the camp offers an authentic safari experience with a light footprint and a deeply immersive feel.

Crafted from sisal, thatch, and canvas, Kuro is an understated nest designed with bush intelligence and a sensitive heart. The camp blends seamlessly into its surroundings, with open-sided thatch mess areas and airy, traditional safari tents, each designed to bring guests closer to nature, while still offering the comfort and character that Nomad is known for.

Located in a key wildlife corridor near the river, wildlife encounters here come naturally. Elephants, antelope, buffalo, and prolific birdlife regularly pass through camp, treating the area as their own. And indeed, they’re right - it’s their home, and guests are merely respectful visitors.

Kuro offers a unique mix of walking safaris, day and night drives, and the opportunity to explore a region famous for its large herds of buffalo and elephant, strong general game populations, and exceptional birding. With special permission to walk in the park, a rare privilege, Kuro is a true haven for those looking to connect more deeply with the natural world.

Walking reveals the bush in a way that vehicles can’t. There’s something electric about moving quietly through the landscape, hearing the amplified sounds of the wild - the crunch of dry grass, the flutter of wings, the soft tread of an elephant before it’s even seen. Guides lead guests into big, open country, pausing as elephants cross the track, scanning baobabs for leopards, or following lion spoor along riverbanks.

After a day of exploration, the camp offers a perfect return. Evenings at Kuro are serene and atmospheric, meals are served under starry skies, accompanied by the sounds of the wild. And for those still seeking adventure, after-dark drives reveal a different side of the bush. Often the first sign of life is a pair of eyes glinting in the dark, perhaps a hyena, a porcupine, or even a rare zorilla. These nighttime experiences remind guests just how quietly an elephant can move, even in pitch darkness.

Kuro Tarangire is easily accessible and pairs perfectly with our camps in the Serengeti and on the Ngorongoro Crater, offering seamless safari combinations without compromising on style or comfort.

This is Tarangire as few ever experience it—wild, soulful, and deeply real.
