Small Group
Are you confused about the huge array of small group trips available? Are you worried about being stuck with other people that just aren't on your wavelength?
Don't worry... we're here to help. We run a small range of tailored hosted group trips throughout the year which are kept to maximum of 8/10 likeminded adventurers to ensure you get the most fantastic experience possible. We do not run online booking, we instead discuss our private journeys with you to find out which one you'll be best suited to. Our hosted trips are open to individuals, or groups of 2-4 who can come together and experience an Africa like no other.
These adventures are truly special and are put together by people who have experienced many great (and not so great!) small group safaris. They range from great-value overland mobile safaris to luxury flight-connected expeditions and some may include some volunteering. Our aim is to build a journey which excites and thrills, is adventurous yet comfortable and which has everything thought through right from the start. They are generally open to those over the age of 50 who are looking for that something extra special and who are happy to pay that little bit more for an truly memorable encounter.
See below just a few of the many incredible itineraries we operate, and be part of a Safari Ambitions private small hosted group you won't find anywhere else.

Volunteering
Volunteering is simply superb. There are many options available for wildlife rescue & rehabilitation, community projects and conservation, and you're never too old to experience getting involved. Working with endangered wildlife is hugely rewarding and you'll not only come away with the feeling of making a real difference, you'll want to return for more.
We specialise in hosted group trips or tailor-made adventures, with a particular focus on travellers aged 45+ who are looking to combine their love of wildlife protection with the comforts of a private safari lodge. We work with some superb providers across Kenya, Botswana and South Africa where you'll feel part of the family in rehabilitating wildlife who have encountered previous difficulties or cruelty at the hands of humans, hunters, warfare and in some circumstances, circuses. It also comes with a bit of hard work - always good for the soul!
Send us a message if you're keen to try volunteering for yourself.

What are you looking for?
The type of safari you are looking for depends on your priorities, budget, and desired experience, with options ranging from traditional game drives in popular destinations like the Kruger National Park or The Masai Mara to more unique experiences like horseback safaris or gorilla trekking in Central Africa.
Considerations for choosing a safari type:
For first-timers:
Destinations like the Kruger National Park in South Africa or the Serengeti in Tanzania are often recommended for their high chance of spotting the Big Five and well-established tourism infrastructure.
Duration:
Aim for 8-14 days to allow for deeper exploration and a more varied experience with ample game spotting opportunities. We recommend travelling between areas and enjoying a variety of lodges to immerse yourself as much as possible.
Seasons:
The dry season is ideal for concentrated wildlife viewing as animals gather at remaining water sources. However, experienced travellers might also appreciate the "green season" (wet season) which brings migratory birds, new-borns, fewer crowds and potentially better deals.
Specific Interests:
Consider timing of specific events like the Great Migration (June-October in East Africa) or gorilla trekking (June-September & December-February) in Uganda or Rwanda.
Location:
Different regions offer distinct experiences; for example, Southern Africa during the dry season is excellent for game viewing in places like the Greater Kruger, whilst East Africa shines with the Great Migration in the dry season. Experienced safari-goers might also explore less-visited areas like Botswana, Zimbabwe or Zambia for a more untouched wilderness.
Accommodation:
Research and select camps or lodges with positive reviews and professionally trained guides (which all our accommodation have in abundance!). Make sure they align with your budget and comfort preferences, ensuring they are well located for your chosen activities.
Travel Style & Companions:
Consider who you are travelling with and whether you prefer adventure, relaxation, or a mix, as well as your desired level of comfort.
