Old Mondoro Camp
A Classic Bushcamp in the Heart of the Lower Zambezi, Old Mondoro combines comfort and adventure and is perfect for those looking for an authentic safari in Zambia combined with a little touch of style.
Tucked beneath a grove of winterthorn trees along a peaceful channel of the Zambezi River, Old Mondoro is one of Zambia’s most iconic bush camps – small, soulful, and immersed in nature. With just five chalets and one family house, this intimate, solar-powered camp offers a raw and authentic safari for those who crave real connection with the wild.
Here, the wildlife comes to you. Elephants browse through camp, hippos wallow just metres away, and leopards prowl nearby. Located in the open woodlands of the Faidherbia Forest, Old Mondoro is famed for its exceptional big cat sightings, as well as abundant plains game, buffalo, birdlife, and river scenes.
Rooms are open and inviting, blending simple elegance with the untamed wilderness. Each has sweeping views over the water, open-air baths, and timber decks perfect for armchair game viewing. Delicious meals are served fireside or in the thatched dining area, with star-filled nights and in-room massages offering the perfect wind-down after days of adventure.
Activities include game drives, walking safaris, canoeing and boat cruises, all led by expert guides. And yet, with the wildlife so active around camp, many guests find the best safari happens right from their veranda.
Pair a stay at Old Mondoro with Chiawa Camp for a contrasting yet complementary experience through the “Best of Both Worlds” safari package, or extend your journey to Puku Ridge in South Luangwa for the ultimate Zambian circuit.
